To describe Miss Pixie’s Furnishings and Whatnot as just an antique store would be an injustice. While it sells antiques, the storefront and the store itself lend a whimsical perspective to antique stores and vintage shops.
The first time I walked into Miss Pixie’s, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had been walking along 14th street when I was drawn in by the bright pink facade and neon lettering. Once inside, it felt like I had walked into another world. Miss Pixie’s offers well made vintage furniture, furnishings, and doodads.
I like to venture towards the back where I can finger through old maps, vintage school posters straight out of the 1950s, and old records. There is a bright and airy vibe to the store that a lot of antique stores do not have. In a word, Miss Pixie’s if funky (without the antique store smell).
Miss Pixie’s is definitely a store to take your time in and peruse through everything. You never know what you’ll find! Be sure to pop in to grab a souvenir before you end your visit to DC.
