This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants, serving Northern Italian cooking in the middle of the nation’s capital. It is located in Dupont Circle in an old DC town home. The only indication that I know I’m opening the right door is a small metal cutout of an obelisk. No sign. No menu displayed outside. Nothing. But you are at the right place.
You will need reservations. There are only a dozen or so tables inside. It has a very cozy, friendly, comfortable vibe. Everyone will give you a subtle indication that you have found one of DC’s treasures. It’s a prix fixe menu and northern Italian cooking. No chicken on top of pasta here. You get 5-7 courses. Bread and cheese, antipasto, pasta dish, meat course and dessert. And every course is meant to be enjoyed. They won’t rush you to turn over the table. They want you to stay. To have wine and enjoy your company. This is how dinner out is supposed to be. Fantastic food, atmosphere and friends.
Dinner Tuesday – Thursday is $78. Friday and Saturday is $88. And the largest party they can seat is 6.
