Pho14 Washington DC

Pho14 – Number 9 extra tripe

Prior to living in D.C, I didn’t really eat/know what pho was. Now, it is a staple in my diet, especially in the winter time. I crave that instead of my mom’s chicken noodle soup (sorry mom). Living in Chinatown, one would expect the pho dishes there to be the best, however I have found my favorite to be Pho 14 in Van Ness.

Pho 14 is a small restaurant across the street from the Van Ness metro station. Even though the restaurant itself is small, the pho bowls are HUGE. I usually get their #9 which has brisket, sirloin, and tripe (if you don’t know what that is, it is sheep stomach lining…but it is good I promise!). It is a great dish to warm you up from the inside out.

In the summertime pho may not be the most ideal lunch, so they also have awesome banh mi sandwiches and avocado smoothies to cool you down. They are also pretty fast so if you are on a lunch break you can actually sit and eat rather than shovel food into your mouth and run back to the office. Enjoy!
