Roy Boys – Fried chicken and oyster spot

Roy Boys is a brand new restaurant that just opened up in DC’s Shaw neighborhood. Shaw has many iconic fried chicken restaurants and Roy Boys manages to stack up.

The hip-hop themed restaurant has rap playing throughout and images of famous rappers such as Biggie plastered on the walls.

Roy Boys is currently a dinner and late-night food spot. The staff at Roy Boys is absolutely incredible. They were welcoming and helped walk my friends and me through the menu. The cocktails were incredible and refreshing. I enjoyed the Black Excellence and Power Up! Both of which made me feel incredibly healthy, as the Black Excellence included beets and the Power Up! had mango, coconut, and orange juice.

I never knew how much I wanted fresh oysters paired with fried foods before Roy Boys. The Barbecued Oysters were delicious and creamy and the Oysters Rockefeller rocked my world. I highly recommend getting one of the fried chicken meals with the Tennessee hot chicken. My meal was juicy and spicy and came with a side of macaroni and cheese and Brussels sprouts.

Shaw is a neighborhood you absolutely have to visit while in DC. So make sure to stop into Roy Boys for some laid-back delicious food during your visit.
