Supra Washington DC

Supra – Georgian fare

If you’ve done any research on restaurants in D.C., you’ve probably come across the dish khachapuri, otherwise known as the “cheese boat.” This is a Georgian dish that became Instagram-famous for it’s gooey deliciousness. And the one Georgian spot that has different variations of the popular dish is Supra, a new restaurant in Shaw.

Supra’s menu has a whole section devoted to khachapuri, with seven different options. I’ve only had the Ajaruli, the “boat” with cheese and an egg, and it was phenomenal. The two of us couldn’t finish the whole thing. It’s definitely something uniquely delicious to experience.

The menu is very affordable, with suggested Georgian wine pairings that I heavily encourage. If you’re going for a girls night, I recommend sitting at the bar and ordering the khachapuri with a bottle of wine. The atmosphere is very trendy and intimate, so it’s also a good spot for a date night or group outing.
