Tico is a place along the super hip 14th street corridor in Washington D.C. When you walk into the restaurant, the decor is modern and colors are vibrant, it is like something you would see in a nice restaurant in downtown Buenos Aires, Argentina. You look at the drinks menu and see margaritas and lots of tequilas…like a whole menu dedicated to them.
Like myself, you might assume that Tico is a great Latin restaurant. However, as you scan the menu, you find items like buttermilk fried chicken, sausage and peppers, lamb meatballs, etc. The most typical Latin American food on the menu are the tacos, and even they have unique twists such as the duck tacos with mango salsa and duck cracklings. If you have a huge sweet tooth like myself, you scan the desserts menu to find that they are offering cookies and milk!
Tico is even more unique because they also offer an option for the chef to choose your food for you based on your hunger level. Overall, the experience is pretty on point and my favorite thing on the menu, believe it or not, are the cookies and milk. Give them a try at the end of your meal!
