The story of the Chiang Mai starts more than a decade ago as an import shop: you could get coconut water, mangoes, spices, and various vegetables directly shipped in from Thailand. In one corner of the store there was a counter where you could get warm food. Even if there were some tables, there wasn’t that much seating space, so most people took their food to go.
But guests weren’t fooled by the low-key setting, and word travelled about the delicious Thai food that came in big portions for affordable prices. In summer 2015, the Chiang Mai crew moved to a bigger location to open a full restaurant.
They offer several freshly made, street food-inspired dishes every day, and always at least one vegetarian option. It’s not fancy, but it is very cosy. The portions are huge for a really good price. The staff is lovely (and sometimes loud).
Leave a tip at the end, and you’ll see what I mean 😉
