New Yorkers always knew it: Burgers don’t have to be fast-food, they can be miniature works of art. And though it took a while to arrive in Zurich (we Swiss take it slow) when the the gourmet burger craze hit the city one restaurant in particular took the lead: the Helvti Diner.
Located in an beautiful old tram station with a nice view of the the Sihl river, back in 2011 this was the first place in Zurich specialized in amazing burgers. And it still is one of the best.
Choose your kind of meat (Swiss Prime, Angus and the very expensive Wagyu), your kind of cheese (Cheddar, Swiss and Blue) and your add-ons (like Bacon or Guacamole) – and get ready for one of the best burgers of Zurich. My personal favorite: Classic Angus with Swiss Alpine Cheese and Garlic Mayonnaise – just to keep it simple and enjoy the excellent meat.
The place also serves delicious milk shakes and heavy American style desserts (if you still have some place in your stomach) and offers a small selection of drinks and cocktails (if you decide that your stomach isn’t quite ready for leaving your seat).
