There is only one shop in Helsinki where you can find design, fashion, art, music, books, vintage, gallery and bar under the same roof, that’s Helsinki10. They sell cd’s, bubble gum, expensive clothes from small designers and well-known fashion houses, vintage clothes, bags and shoes from all over the Europe and even weird painted china, like tea cups and pots!

Helsinki10 is a place where you go to wander and touch very odd clothes and accessories, but end up buying something: a key-chain or pair of odd boots. The staff is very helpful and friendly!

Last summer Helsinki10 started to sell Topshop clothes in the store as the only shop in Helsinki. It is a bit sad that they made their vintage section smaller (to make room for Topshop), but I am super-excited about all the new Topshop clothes and it is about the time to have it in Finland as well!

Urban a* is a lifestyle shop that sells clothes, interior, accessories and other small items (like soaps and fridge magnets) which make great presents. The atmosphere in the shop is very Scandinavian: clean and simple, but at the same time very unique, cool, yet cozy.

Most of the clothes they sell are a wee bit expensive. They stock for example Designer’s Remix, by Malene Birger and Bruuns Bazaar among others.

Most of the items, beauty products and clothes you can buy in Urban a* you can’t find anywhere in Finland. They also have their own clothing line that is not pricy at all and then they sell famous shoes like Havaianas flip flops and Ugg-boots. They basically sell only the things they like themselves (and what I have seen: they seem to have an accurate sense of fashion and style).

Urban a* use to be located where The Greendress (check the Greendress article) is now (the next door), but it moved to a bigger premises, which means twice as many cool clothes and items than before!

Design Forum Shop is an excellent combination of shopping, gallery and café! You will find different kinds of pieces of Finnish design: jewellery, bags, clothes and mouse pads. They sell products by 200 designers and manufacturers, so they change what they sell very often.

You can find traditional Finnish things in a new format: like a make up bag made from the canvas with which they make traditional hats in Lappland. Or you can buy a lamp that looks like a bird’s home. The shop offers an opportunity for young designers to display their skills and for customers to buy something they won’t find anywhere else.

The shop is a huge display of all the weird and interesting design there is. You don’t even feel like you are in a shop. There is a café in the shop where you can relax, enjoy your coffee and read magazines (about design of course!).
