This little snack joint was founded in 1984 on Bliss Street, next to the American University of Beirut (AUB), opposite the police station. They began making pastry appetite and were welcomed by a wide range of people, leading to an increase in the variety of pastries and the introduction of new pastries particular to Faysal.

The place doesn’t look like much and there’s no sitting area, as it’s mostly for takeaway and delivery, yet it’s very popular in the neighborhood.

Usually, when I hit this place up, the first thing I order is their fatayer with the special Faysal dip – they’re so crunchy and tasty, trust me you won’t regret trying them. They also bake a wide range of mouajanet, plus they’re known for their manakeesh as well.

My absolute favorite thing to do is take a walk down Bliss Street, listen to Adonis, order my fatayer plater from Faysal’s, then head to the corniche located at the far end of Bliss street, where there is a full view of the old lighthouse, and just sit there enjoy my music, food and scenery.
