Sale Water Park holds an emotional and important part of my heart; it was here I walked around awkwardly with the boy I fancied, who I am now engaged to. So I may be a bit biased when I talk about how lovely the water park is.
But it is lovely. It’s a huge lake surrounded by beautiful paths and meadows through which you can walk or cycle. There are also plenty of spots to stop and take in the view, or to fish if you so wish since the lake is popular for fishing due to its wide array of freshwater fish — a permit is required, however.
There is a water sports centre on-site where you can either hire boats or acquire launch tickets for your own equipment. During summer, open water swimming sessions are also held a few times per week.
And if a picnic or a trip to the ice cream van hasn’t quashed your hunger, then maybe you could have a meal at The Boathouse, which is next to the car park and provides a great view over the park.
If you don’t drive, the park is easily accessible from the closest tram stop.
