Winter and spring filled Born with the sounds of hammers and saws. Empty venues were being refurbished into something new. And the place that became Bormuth, already looked promising to me while under construction. The bar is located in the middle of Born and although from the outside it may look plain, I looked behind that first simple impression and found a very trendy yet no nonsense place!
It doesn’t have a terrace, but the facade is completely open. The actual bar has been extended to the outside area. It is very small, but if you are lucky, you’ll find a spot on one of the stools outside. My favourite spot is inside, in front of the open windows. It makes me feel like I am in the middle of the vibrant street it is located on. Either way, inside or on the few stools outside, it’s a great place to enjoy an afternoon beer, wine or – of course – vermouth, while watching the city life pass you by!
But apart from the location and design, there is one reason I keep coming back; the incredibly tasty tapas. The menu is a long list full of tiny dishes that all sound tasty. My favourites are for sure the aubergines fried in honey and the spicy ‘patatas mojon picon’. You get a proper amount to share for a very good price. So the bill will not be an unpleasant surprise at all. Unless you struggle, like me, to not order it all…
