Raval is definitely my favourite neighbourhood when it comes to good bars. The risk of knowing many good places is you become a creature of habit and always return to the same spot. However, the terrace of La Monroe looked so appealing that my friends and I were tempted to try something new. And our curiosity was rewarded.
La Monroe is the bar of Raval's "Filmoteca". This cinema often has many classic movies screening, usually in the original language. So if you are a fan of art house and classic cinema, you might want to check their program too!
But back to the bar. It is located on a lively square in the middle of Raval. Plenty of tables outside and a very open design inside makes you feel like you are part of the local life going on there. At the bar itself you will find a fun mix of people; hipsters, some slightly lost tourists, parents or the local neighbours.
Apart from the location, the great design and friendly staff, it is mainly the food that makes us come back. Because what better than some amazing nachos to go with your weekend wine? Once you see a plate passing by, you'll know what I mean... Irresistible! And so are the other tapas.
So La Monroe was worth trying something new, and got me hooked. It has now become a new regular spot for us here... Until something else catches our eye again!
