Most Belgian cafés have quite a big variety of beers, but a couple of them really stand out and offer more than 100 types of different beers. Het trappistenhuis is one of them.
Located in an old house of the 17th century this bar has everything a beer-lover needs: a great selection of beers and good appetizers! They are specialized in trappist beer – what a surprise – special beer brewed in monasteries. You can order a “Bierplank” (you can see it on the picture), which is a like an arrangement of tapas like cheese, sausage, olives, etc.
The staff is friendly and willing to help you pick out a good one. The place is nicely decorated with beer-curiosia and wooden furniture. It’s quite spacious as well, which makes it suitable for larger groups. During winter the fireplace gives the bar a very cozy atmosphere and it makes it the perfect location to warm yourself up when you are freezing cold. In summer there is a small outdoor terrace on the sidewalk. Enjoy your Trappist!
