Everytime I see Ghent at night time, a smile curls up my face and a lovely sigh escapes my mouth. It is so beautiful. Now imagine a big light festival, decorating the entire city and buildings with special effects, curtains and innovations to leave you in awe. Next to the Gentse Feesten, the Light Festival is one of the biggest events. But it does not happen every year, so please come if you are in the neighbourhood. And leave your car at home, because the city will be jammed.
There is a light guide you can follow or you can just wander around and be surprised at every corner. And when you feel you are walking all alone on the big boardwalk of the Korenmarkt, take a peek to your left or your right and stand across thousands of people gazing with their jaws down at the building behind you. Happened to me a few years ago. Although I am not a big fan of huge crowds, this is one event even I cannot miss out on. I am really curious what the festival has in store for us this edition.
