Tougo Coffee is my favorite spot to read and relax on Capitol Hill. It’s tucked away, off a busy main street with the most minimal signage, yet it still attracts steady foot traffic without being too noisy or crowded.
When I’m at Tougo, I like to sit outside on a sunny afternoon, people watching and eavesdropping on debates and discussions happening nearby.
Tougo has a true independent coffee shop feel, something that is becoming more rare in the hometown of Starbucks. If you’re looking for something more communal in a coffee shop try sitting at the community table, often it’s the only seat available in this cozy cafe. The baristas are some of the most passionate coffee people. If you ask them anything about the blends, brewing or beans you’re sure to get a comprehensive answer and maybe even an invite to their next cupping.
Tougo is a great place to kick back, rain or shine, and spend a few hours relaxing or catching up on Spotter blogs.
