I often visit Aksay Nan Bakery shops throughout the city to buy some bread and sweets. It is one of the biggest bakeries in Almaty with a history dating back to the Soviet era (former Almaty's bread plant number one).
That fact explains the large variety of products offered that include traditional bread made with wheat or rye flour as well as more original recipes, for example, corn or hemp flour, yeast-free, loaves with sunflower seeds, cumin and so on and so forth. Except for bread, they have many other types of products, such as cakes and biscuits of all sizes, strudels, simple but tasty delicacies like chicken pies and many others.
Aksay Nan shop and small cafeteria on Nazarbayeva 223/4B located in the same building with Alma-Ata shopping mall, near the corner of Mahatma Ghandi street. Yes, it's a small eatery as well. You can buy food & drinks and eat right there. There are mostly simple snacks like pirozhki (often with potatoes or cabbage), belyashi, chebureki (meat or jusai), and different types of dumplings - this variety of simple snacks is a very good addition to the bread products and sweets I mentioned above.
The interior is pretty nice and guest-friendly. Usually enough space for buyers, most of the time not crowded. The overall food quality is high; they are always fresh and tasty.
