If you're in Almaty and want to feel the pulse of the city, head to Arbat, located along Zhibek Zholy Street. This is where the city comes alive — day and night.
You’ll find live performers here all the time: singers, dancers, musicians — of all kinds and levels. Some might surprise you with real talent, others might just make you smile. There are also street artists showing and selling their artwork — a nice chance to buy something unique.
Ice cream kiosks and cafes are scattered all over, so you can grab a quick treat or take a break from walking. There are also small shops and even a cinema right on the street, making it a mix of culture, food, and shopping in one place.
What makes Arbat especially fun (and chaotic!) is the crowd: teenagers, young adults, and lots of people filming TikToks and Reels — doing dares, asking questions, or just dancing in front of their phones. Even if you’re not joining in, it’s entertaining to watch.
But be ready — it’s crowded. Very crowded. Still, it’s one of those places that captures the energy of Almaty like nowhere else.
