I love modern art—even when I don’t fully understand it. There’s something deeply moving about photography, paintings, sketches, and visual experiments. Unfortunately, Almaty doesn’t have many galleries, but one space keeps me coming back: Esentai Gallery, tucked away on Al-Farabi Street.
It’s a small gallery, but full of life. I’ve probably attended at least 20 different events here—sketching sessions, art networking nights, artist talks, interactive workshops, and countless exhibitions. There’s always something happening, and it draws a surprisingly diverse, curious, and creative crowd.
What I love most is that it feels welcoming. You don’t have to be an art expert. Whether you're just looking for inspiration or want to chat with local artists, this is the place. The exhibitions are often bold and contemporary—perfect for those who want to see what’s fresh and thought-provoking in Kazakhstan’s art scene.
