There’s a small park on the corner of Abylai Khan Avenue and Kurmangazy Street that I absolutely love. It’s one of Almaty’s underrated green spaces — calm, lush, and perfect for a walk any time of the day. What makes it special for me, though, are the concrete ping pong tables. You don’t need to bring a net — it’s built in! Just grab your paddles and go. The tables are always there, open 24/7, and you’ll even find people playing during winter.
I come here often to play ping pong, take slow walks among the flowers, or simply sit and enjoy the blooming trees in spring. The atmosphere is serene and refreshing. Besides the ping pong tables, the park also has a small football area, a skateboarding zone, and some fitness equipment — so there’s always something happening, yet it never feels crowded.
If you’re in the city center and want a quick escape into nature, or you’re a fellow ping pong fan looking for a free table, this corner park is a perfect find. It’s a hidden gem I keep coming back to.
