I recently discovered a truly special place — and some amazing people along with it. My friend invited me to a tea ceremony, and I absolutely loved it. It was calm, relaxing, and incredibly atmospheric — not fancy at all, yet for me, it’s one of the best places in Almaty.
Before, I had two favorite spots in the city, but now my top choice is Masala. It’s a small, cozy tea place that serves all kinds of tea — Nomad tea, Tary tea, various Chinese blends, and of course, masala. But what really makes it special is the atmosphere of creativity and community.
Masala regularly hosts unique events — from mandala coloring and movie nights to tea ceremonies and live music jams. Most events are in Russian, but there are also some in English. For example, I recently hosted a mini cuddle party and tea gathering there, and it was amazing! I loved everything about it — the energy, the people, and especially the support from the Masala team. The administration is fantastic: they help with everything and are always open to new ideas and events.
I highly recommend this place to anyone who doesn’t care for fancy venues but truly appreciates good tea, warmth, and creative company.
