Located in the middle of the city center, at the Herengracht, there's A. van Wees. When you arrive you'll first see this very extraordinary patio where some tables are located so you can sit and have a look at the canals. When you walk in you see a very authentic bar. Here you are surrounded by objects, such as kegs and beer crates that are years and years old.
BUT, this is not the best part. They have their own jenever distillery left, the Ooievaar. This is the one and only craft distillery left in Amsterdam. Their distillery is still in the center of the Jordaan. They distill according to their original recipes with the original copper kettles.
If you have some friends over, you should go to this place and have a small jenever tasting. The employees will explain to you the order to drink it and what sort of Jenever you are tasting.
To have the most unique experience try to reserve the place underneath the stairs. Here you have a very cozy place where you can sit with four people.
AND... they also are a restaurant, so after a bit too many jenevers, you can always order a nice platter or one of their delicious dishes!
