Sugar Shake might not be out on the main streets of Beirut, but this is what hidden gems are all about! In an alleyway right behind Beit Beirut Museum, you’ll be served one of the freshest and tastiest smoothies and frozen yogurts you could have in this city.
As a shop that opened during the economic crisis, Ismail, the owner and business graduate and the owner of this original shop, got affected, which led him to open at a different location with a takeaway service, but everything happens for a reason. Not to mention that from a business perspective, he had to cut costs. Honestly, Sugar Shake’s current location is great for the museum visitors, and the mini market entrance of it that he launched a few months ago is needed in a street full of boutique shops and art galleries.
When asked Ismail about what sells the most, he said that the milkshakes are always in demand. However, I tried the frozen yogurt with lotus, crushed biscuits and a drizzle of strawberry syrup. Let me tell you that tasting the frozen yogurt made me miss a taste that doesn’t exist in the market here. It was really fresh and creamy, one way or another.
I’ll soon be trying his smoothies, because I couldn’t but order the same frozen yogurt the second time I visited his shop – it was really that good! Try it for yourself to find out.
