And now, thanks to our local Spotters, you can experience it like a local.
Why Almaty?
To us, Almaty represents everything that’s still real and raw in a world of overtourism and Instagram clichés. When we first visited, the warmth of the people blew us away, the unpretentious food scene, the late-night cafés, the brutalist architecture, and the hidden oases in its leafy parks. We knew it had all the ingredients for a truly Spotted by Locals city.
With the help of local writers, we’ve uncovered spots you won’t find in any guidebook – from teahouses with Soviet soul to streetwear boutiques tucked away in courtyards, from underground art spaces to the best mountain-view cafés.
This Guide is Special
This launch is also special for us for another reason. It’s our second guide in Central Asia, and a great example of what we stand for – connecting cultures through local voices, far from the mainstream tourist paths.
