Dürer has a colorful history when it comes to the underground culture of Pest. A few years ago, after divisive events surrounding the previous building, it opened its gates at a completely new location in Buda. The change, however, did not take away Dürer’s charm—instead, it reframed it wonderfully.
In the warmer months, I love the outdoor part of Dürer. Due to its size, it often hosts larger events, and even on a busy night, one can find a little corner with a table for a bigger group of friends as well. What is more, you can call them in advance and reserve a cauldron and cook, bake or grill in the garden close to the Danube. It's a great way to spend an afternoon with friends.
The interior halls offer a wide range of events for the colder months. Each year, there are tons of programs planned, from smaller local bands, exhibitons to really 'big names'. It’s a place not only for concerts but for other get-togethers, raves, parties, as well as fun board game nights. Dürer is often the right place for me to leave the rush of the day behind and get involved in something fun or just dance a bit with friends and a nice crowd.
