Over the years, Egyptians could find many ways to meet together in public places, and one of the best known ways for this has been public coffee shops in the streets. Zahrat El Bustan is my favorite qahwa in the downtown area. It is a traditional one, almost 80-years-old with a good reputation, somany writers, poets and artists sit here. It gained even more importance during the Egyptian revolution in 2011, when many demonstrators used to meet up there.
Recently, they made a very nice graffiti on the walls of Naguib Mahfouz and Mohamed Salah and many people enjoy taking pictures of themselves with the Islamic paintings.
The Turkish coffee and shisha will be my first suggestion for you in Zahrat El Bustan, as they will be very fitting with the atmosphere and you will get both of them in a few minutes. Moreover, you can ask about other kinds of hot and cold drinks (especially the natural juices). Also, you can try different kinds of sandwiches through their new fast food extension, although you can bring any other kind of food from any other restaurant and eat it in Zahrat El Bustan.
Early morning and around midnight are the best times for lovers of tranquility with some Arabic songs playing, while the rest of the day will be the best for lovers of get-togethers.
