The original Roots Pizza is located in the West Town neighborhood in Chicago. The first time I was introduced I knew I wanted more, yet, getting to West Town on a regular basis is not part of my routine. So every so often I would make it to Roots and always enjoy the experience.
Luckily, around 2016 the boys at Roots opened up a second location, just under two miles from my apartment, and it has allowed me to enjoy the Quad City styled pizza whenever I please. The crust at Roots is crunchy and buttery. I enjoy that you can create your own pizza from a large list of ingredients. It is very filling, so I always have a second meal with leftovers. So yes, the pizza is great. But please, do not miss getting the mozzarella sticks to start your experience. Made in-house, you can taste the freshness and their gooey goodness. Salads, pasta and sandwiches also grace the menu. Roots has a robust beverage menu filled with wine, cocktails and a beer glossary.
The atmosphere at Roots in Lincoln Square is friendly and laid back, something different from the hustle and bustle of the West Town location. I have fun memories from both locations, I just prefer to enjoy the pizza and mozzarella sticks closer to home. If you come with your family, the staff at Roots will ensure the kiddos in the family are entertained by a ball of pizza dough (just ask).
