Merrion Square Park Dublin

Ginger from Dublin

About me Born and raised in Poland, living in Dublin since 2006 and absolutely loving the weather here - after all, nowhere else in the world can you have all 4 seasons in one day. I’m a traveller: my first travel abroad was when I was 14 years old and I’ve been travelling ever since. I have visited nearly all continents and I even managed to get to the end of the world (quite l...
""Merrion Square Park" is my absolute favorite park in Dublin! It's not just that it's big - it's simply charming and has plenty of things to do!"

There are many bigger or smaller parks in Dublin, however, Merrion Square is my absolute favorite one. It’s one of the bigger ones as well, but that’s not what drives me to it. It’s simply charming and somewhat hidden, so it gives you a feeling of privacy and cosiness.

The Merrion Square Park is the most intact Georgian Square located in the heart of the city and it’s surrounded by all kinds of artistic and creative institutions like the National Art Gallery of Ireland, the Archaeological and Natural History sections of the National Museum of Ireland, Irish Traditional Music Archive, Royal Society of Antiquaries, the Irish Architectural Archive, just to name a few. It’s an absolute gem for a lazy Sunday afternoon, when you don’t know what to do exactly, so you want to be surrounded by many options. On a sunny day, I love to come here with a picnic blanket and read a book for a while before exploring all the museums and galleries around the area.

There are always some great and creative people hanging out in the park, some of them reading, some of them practicing dancing with the fire, some just trying to walk from one tree to another on a very narrow slackline. If the weather is good and you feel like laying down on the grass next to creative and very friendly people, this is THE spot for you.

About me Born and raised in Poland, living in Dublin since 2006 and absolutely loving the weather here - after all, nowhere else in the world can you have all 4 seasons in one day. I’m a traveller: my first travel abroad was when I was 14 years old and I’ve been travelling ever since. I have visited nearly all continents and I even managed to get to the end of the world (quite literally – I was on an island that is the first inhabited land in the world to enter a new date). As I’m working mostly remotely, I like to become a local at the place of my travels. So instead of sig...
