Away from the crowds on George street hidden down some steps behind an unmarked door, this dark little secret serves some of the best cocktails in town and is the perfect place to chill out with some friends. Expect hip hop beats, hipster locals and a laid-back atmosphere. Bramble frequently appears in lists of the best bars in the world but for the uninitiated it can be difficult to find. Look out for the smokers milling about on the subterranean patio below the clothing alteration shop on the corner of Queen street and Hannover Street.
Descend the stairs, go through the door and find your own little corner in this candle-lit, shabby-chic haven. Friendly staff will mix you one of the cocktails on their ever-evolving menu, or if you are an aficionado, you can ask them to make you one of your favourites; they will not disappoint. I like to find a space in one of the little coves and enjoy the relaxed candle-lit atmosphere with a few friends.
