Stepping out for a walk to Parc du château de Penthes was a regular affair for me as a student trying to catch a breath amidst busy weeks. One day, I took a small detour from my usual path through the beautiful roads of Pregny & Chambesy, and before anyone knew, I ended up at Plage du Vengeron.
Pristine blue waters, sturdy grey rocks, sprawling green carpet of grass with good enough tree cover, it was something straight out of my dream. While I love Geneva's crowds at popular beaches during the summer, I get a little self-conscious among people. As an introvert, this beach was perfect! Since then, this has become one of my favorite spots in the city.
While the "beach" doesn't have a sandy shore, it has rocky shelves in the water. It is great for people who know how to swim. For others, like me, it can feel like a “leg day” as you try to sit still on one of those rocks and try not to fall into the water.
This beach is close to the Chambesy train station and is served by (maybe) one bus line. In Summer, TPG also runs a special beach line bus (line 29) to access this spot. If you are looking to stray away from the oft-taken path, this might be right up your alley.
