Plage du Vengeron Geneva

Secluded beach in Geneva

Megha from Geneva

About me Born and raised in India, I made my way to Geneva in 2021 at 29 to pursue a master's degree. A journalist turned communications professional, I'm fuelled by food, music, books, and the beauty of nature. I believe in savouring life's slower moments—whether that's cooking elaborate meals for friends, wandering through Geneva's enchanting parks and lakeside promenades, or diving...
"Near Chambesy, Plage du Vengeron is perfect escape for those who enjoy quiet, rocky shores, clear waters, and a peaceful break from Geneva’s summer crowds."

Stepping out for a walk to Parc du château de Penthes was a regular affair for me as a student trying to catch a breath amidst busy weeks. One day, I took a small detour from my usual path through the beautiful roads of Pregny & Chambesy, and before anyone knew, I ended up at Plage du Vengeron.

Pristine blue waters, sturdy grey rocks, sprawling green carpet of grass with good enough tree cover, it was something straight out of my dream. While I love Geneva's crowds at popular beaches during the summer, I get a little self-conscious among people. As an introvert, this beach was perfect! Since then, this has become one of my favorite spots in the city.

While the "beach" doesn't have a sandy shore, it has rocky shelves in the water. It is great for people who know how to swim. For others, like me, it can feel like a “leg day” as you try to sit still on one of those rocks and try not to fall into the water.

This beach is close to the Chambesy train station and is served by (maybe) one bus line. In Summer, TPG also runs a special beach line bus (line 29) to access this spot. If you are looking to stray away from the oft-taken path, this might be right up your alley.

I believe in savouring life's slower moments—whether that's cooking elaborate meals for friends, wandering through Geneva's enchanting parks and lakeside promenades, or diving into a good book by the water.
