Keizerpark is probably one of the “newest” parks in Ghent. Although it has been there for a long time, it wasn’t very attractive. Until the city government recently decided to restyle the park and install two bicycle-bridges. The park itself has a rather modern, simple look. There is a bbq-, skater- and basketball-area, all on a tiny surface and still there is plenty of space to relax.
By coincidence I went to live very close to the park, without realizing it was there. Now I cross it every morning by bike before going to work. I often go there with friends to play some games, read a book or just watch the water passing by.
From the center you can easily reach the park by taking tram 21/22 or from Sint-Pieters or Dampoort station take bus 34/35/36. It’s f.e. a great idea to get a pizza delivered in the park, and install yourself at the lovely waterside. Or why not play pétanque or frisbee in this beautiful surroundings? Of course it’s also a great place for a nap on a sunny afternoon.
