A little piece of Spain has appeared in the West End recently. At the bottom of Byres Road in Patrick, an Artisan charcuterie and imported Spanish food shop has opened where you can buy a compendium of Spain's finest cured meats, cheeses and snacks.
My first experience of 'Taste of Spain' was sampling some delicious Iberico hams, Morcilla, Lomo and smokey Chorizos. I spoke to the extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff who were willing and enthusiastic about the quality products they sell. The idea is to bring authentic Spanish food to the masses, offering something a bit different from the existing Spanish restaurants tapas bars and pop-up Iberian experiences.
As well as beautiful charcuterie ranging from whole sweet or spicy chorizos to rare black Iberico hams, they sell sumptuous aged cheeses, jars of lovely Piquillo peppers, Sobrosada, sandwiches made to order and gorgeous olive oils. You can buy spices and herbs, condiments and breads that you won't find anywhere else in Glasgow.
One of the best selling points though is the hampers and meals made to order. You can buy a 'Wee Hamper' or a luxury basket of goodies as a gift or order yourself an authentic made to order meal, (ideal for a Dinner Party cheat!) from a choice of Paellas, Tortillas, Empanadas or daily specials.
For an authentic Spanish foody experience, a dinner party idea, a gift hamper or just a simple posh wee picnic, it's a great place to start.
Vamos!!
