If you haven't heard of Kumpir, you have to get to know it as quickly as possible! The best place to have a Kumpir is Kumpir Altona in the quarter of Ottensen.
Kumpir is a big baked potato that is being filled with my beloved delicious things: sour cream, vegetables, sauces, cheese... or even with falafel, my favorite. At Kumpir Altona, the Kumpir potato is always freshly made in front of your eyes and you can pick and choose which ingredients you want in your potato.
When it's warm outside, you can take a seat on the many benches outside of the Kumpir Altona restaurant (there are even big umbrellas, if the Hamburg weather decides to suddenly stop being nice). On colder days and when the weather is getting uncomfortable, the Kumpir Altona offers space inside. I love to sit on their sofas with friends, having a potato and enjoying a quiet night out.
