Handelek is located just a 1-minute walk from Oskar Schindler's Factory and museum, at one of Krakow's most up and coming neighborhoods. This bistro is always busy with locals who know exactly where to find one of Krakow's best breakfast menus.
The restaurant is located in an old factory building and this is why it still has big windows and high ceilings. The seating area is overly spacious but it is ideal for a cosy breakfast. I love the open kitchen because it gives you a sneak peek into the hard work that goes into preparing every dish.
But this is not my favorite thing about Handelek. The best thing is the bread. Handelek serves bread that is prepared in their own artisan bakery that uses flour from local mills around Krakow.
My dish of choice is the award-winning scrambled eggs with oscypek (a traditional polish cheese). On days when I can't resist my sweet tooth, I also order a "to-go" challah bread which I usually finish on the drive home. If you are on the lookout for a more Polish breakfast option, then make sure to order open-face sandwiches with different toppings.
Handelek bistro is not visible from the street, so if you are driving leave your car somewhere close, take a short walk and explore the area before having your brunch there!
