Let me tell you about my favorite Korean place in Krakow – Oriental Spoon. It is located near Stary Kleparz marketplace, right across from everyone’s favorite Aperol Spritz spot Baqaro. Oriental Spoon offers their spin on a Korean classic – Bibimbap.
Bibimbap is quite simply rice mixed with meat or tofu and vegetables, usually topped with spicy gochujang paste-based sauce. Oriental Spoon offers a mix-and-match menu. You can choose your base (rice or grains), meat (chicken/beef/calamari) or tofu (plain or mushroom), sauce (gochujang with honey, soy-lemon, sweet&sour), and your toppings (egg, nuts, nori). Every portion is topped with a fair handful of veggies, fresh and pickled. Oriental Spoon’s bibimbap is served cold, so it’s a good lunch option if you are on the go or want to grab something to eat later!
Aside from their staple bibimbap, Oriental Spoon serves other Korean classics such as Rabokki and Japchae. Most of the options are kept on a healthy side, which is always good news!
The interior is small but quite nicely done. If the weather allows it, I like to take a seat outside, or take my food to go, to absorb the lazy atmosphere of Krakow’s old town bathing in the sun!
