Ana Desetnica is a unique international street theatre festival which happens once a year in many different Slovenian cities, but the most spectacular, interesting and breathtaking shows occur in the capital. The festival, in cooperation with theatre Ana Monro, gathers together well-known and unknown street performers, puppeteers, clowns, presenters, musicians and a bunch of other creative minds who present their shows, cooperate, amuse and engage the audience. Every evening, the festival space is transformed and re-created using different pieces of furniture and carpets.
Since 2017, the most favorite performative space has been the central Slovenska cesta. But following last year, organizers decided to move away from the busy city center to different parks, squares and neighborhoods around the city. The street theater performances are not limited to classical theater form only but consist of different genres: from Kamishibai, a traditional form of Japanese storytelling that uses illustrated cards presented within a small stage-like structure to Varieté theater, and most of them are suitable for children.
Dancing, singing, theatre workshops (for children), flea markets, storytelling and much more trigger so many different feelings and emotions, they aren't always easily put into words and spectators often wander into other states of mind. Totally drawn into the happening, they forget about the world outside and just FEEL with all their senses at once. We very often forget to do that, so let Ana Desetnica hit you.
