Odprta Kuhna (open kitchen) is a food market, happening every sunny Friday from March to October. If you happen to be in town on Friday, you should definitely pay a visit to Odprta kuhna.
Whether you are in need of breakfast, lunch, a snack or dinner, in need of some caffeine or thirsty for crafted beer or excellent wine, there is only one suggestion: go and enjoy. At Pogačarjev trg Square (Ljubljana Central Market) a variety of good restaurants are cooking outdoors. Browse the stands, smell the food and enjoy the atmosphere on the benches or on the staircase nearby.
Besides the (quality) restaurants with local food (from all over Slovenia), there are stands with Turkish, Russian, Egyptian, Asian food, stands with raw food and others. Each time it's a bit different. Because of that, it has become a popular Friday lunch or early dinner destination. No matter their taste, each person can grab food from whatever stand he or she likes and join people on communal benches.
