Kinderkunsthaus actually translates to ‘Children’s Art House’ and primarily focuses on offering art workshops for children. However, this little establishment offers one-off courses and classes for adults too.
Located in Schwabing, an area caught between its bohemian roots and gentrification, not all is lost on this little studio. It has a skilled team of professionals, ranging from University students to professors of art to artists themselves. The studio is a large open room, full of light, with large workstations in the centre.
As an adult, they offer online courses on Thursdays, covering anything from drawing and printing, to hand lettering and Macramé. In person, they offer outdoor workshops, pottery and a program called ‘Arthouse’ which covers sewing, printing, screen printing and so on.
For a majority of courses, no prior knowledge or experience is required. Just a registration. Don’t be afraid of not speaking German, art is for everyone and surpasses cultural and language barriers.
Here, you are really free to just learn, create and be inspired. There are no rules or expectations about what you create. The experience is for you only. When I come here, I leave not only with a little creation of my own, but also having learned something new. And it’s a really beautiful space for doing just that.
