Lucullus is a place I enjoy stopping by at on my way home for an early evening hangout. You know that time of day when you're not quite ready to go home, but aren't so motivated to do anything extravagant, let alone prepare dinner yourself.
This place is super casual. You can sit outdoors in a Greek tavern-styled courtyard. The food is yummy: there is a good selection of delicious traditional Greek dishes, including entrees, vegetarian options, fish, salads and gyros.
If I'm perfectly honest, I don't really come here for the food (though of course the food is good). I come here for the atmosphere. I come here for the feeling. The gravel ground, the wooden beer benches and tables, the vines hanging down the walls, the coolness of the concrete walls you can lean up against, the way the waiters stroll by without a worry in the world. It's not so much a dining experience as it is a place to sit back, eat some good quality food and just pause time for a while. It's a place for everyone: young or old, together or single, catching up with old friends or catching up on your reading in your own little nook with a beer, a place where you can play cards or backgammon at the table. These are just some of the things I like about being at Lucullus.
If at the end of the day you just want to kick back and hang, try here!
