Canal Street Market New York

A Chinatown oasis

Victoria from New York

While Chelsea Market is one of New York's most famous markets, there are many other smaller markets scattered throughout the city very much worth checking out. In the midst of swarms of tourists and hawking Chinese vendors selling fake designer handbags and cheap trinkets in Chinatown lies Canal Street Market. Contrary to its hectic surroundings, this market is a little oasis filled with elevated fast casual food options and vendors selling everything from jewelry and candles to t-shirts and bonsai trees. There is also an art gallery that features various rotating artists.

I love this space because of the unique aesthetic, relaxed atmosphere, and the variety of products and food offered. Whether you are popping in for a quick bite to eat, a refreshing drink, or a beautiful flower bouquet, Canal Street Market has something for everyone and every budget. Their vendors are also on rotation, and I love constantly being able to discover new stores and pieces. They also sometimes host events, which can be found on their Facebook and Instagram Canal Street Market pages.

Both of these occurrences contributed to my love of traveling today, and made me comfortable in vulnerable situations. I make traveling a priority in my life, and have been to 20 countries and counting. Eating and trying ...
