I’ve worked on it, but I cannot write a catchier description of this gem than that which the owner has written herself: “For our inspiration we look back to the icons of style. A handbag carried by Grace Kelly, a raincoat on Audrey Hepburn, a snake arm cuff on Elizabeth Taylor. It’s our pleasure to preserve these iconic relics of another time and share them with you.
Icon Style is an antique jewelry and vintage fashion boutique located in New York City’s historic Upper West Side neighborhood. The shop specializes in a diverse array of costume, fine, silver, and designer jewelry spanning eras from the mid-nineteenth century to present. In addition to jewelry, we feature textiles, clothing, home furnishings, and lighting.
A former pharmacy has been transformed into a charming shop filled with antique estate jewelry ($35–$18,000), accessories ($35–$2,500) and furniture ($325–$2,500). Wooden cases ($2,500 each) that originally held apothecary goods now house gems, including 1980s Yves Saint Laurent heart-shaped clip-on earrings ($250), a 1930s glass-and-brass filigree necklace ($295) and a 1950s Egyptian-inspired pearl bib necklace ($295). You can also pick up accessories, such as a 1950s Whiting and Davis mesh evening purse ($165); clothing, including a 1980s Valentino striped silk blouse ($325); and home decor items, such as a 1914 Parisian art print ($195)."
Of all possible souvenirs or mementos of a trip to New York, none seems more special than a unique piece of jewelry, a hat or an original work of art. For hats, read about Hat Works, for artwork The Old Print Shop.
