Who has the best pizza in New York City? Ask any local, and you’ll get a different answer. My ultimate favorite is the Sicilian pie at L&B Spumoni Gardens, but you have to travel deep into Brooklyn for it (I highly recommend you do). When I’m in the city, I head to Scarr’s Pizza for a classic triangle slice.
The tiny spot has a retro-style 1970s vibe, which is extra cheese on top for me. But it’s always packed, so it’s best to grab a slice and eat it on the go. I like to swing by before catching a movie at Metrograph around the corner or heading to a bar in the Lower East Side.
Scarr’s offers a handful of different pies, but keep it simple and order the original. Eating a slice on the street is a rite of passage for New Yorkers and a sure way to blend in with the locals.
