Dive 75 New York

Quality trivia contests

Geoffrey from New York

About me I travel to discover how people elsewhere live, how they manage living with low incomes in expensive cities, how they grapple with hard times and failing economies, how they deal with ageing or crumbling families and how they themselves age and adapt. Knowing and loving New York comes from having lived through many of its manifestations while witnessing its changes....
""Dive 75" in NYC is a noteworthy sports bar for its Tuesday Night Trivia contests. Clientele is also big on board games, and the beer is relatively cheap!"

A distinguishing feature of this Upper West Side sports bar is its Tuesday night Trivia contest and though such contests are commonly found, this one is noteworthy because it is considered among players to be both more difficult and more dignified than others. Victors of the Tuesday 8pm contests receive a gift card valued (these days) at $50.

It has been reported that some contestants who have appeared on the TV game show Jeopardy also compete here.

On other nights, clientele is big on board games of which the bar has many, and regulars are used to sharing and mingling in order to make up a game quorum.

Lots of varieties of beer on numerous taps, typical bar food and a good location not much more than a block from two subway stops—72nd Street on the B or C) train or 72nd Street on the 1, 2 or 3 Train.

Dive 75 is at the corner of Columbus Avenue and 75th Street, close to the American Museum of Natural History and the proclaimed Aperture magazine recently announced gallery of photography, to be built on Columbus Avenue, behind the museum.

Sixteen-ounce glasses of draft beer such as Guinness, Lagunitas IPA, Torch & Crown Stoop Beer and many others start at $8, a bargain for this neighborhood where 375 ml bottles of Budweiser elsewhere may cost the same, or more.
