Empire Outlets is New York City's first outlet mall, and a beautiful addition to Staten Island's waterfront. If you came to New York City seeking shopping and deals, make sure to put this spot on your list! This open-air design features fountains, flower beds and sleek glass architecture. The rows of stores leading to the waterfront frames New York harbor and iconic views of lower Manhattan. It is easy to get here from the Staten Island ferry: simply turn right from the exit and you'll be right there!
The mall offers an assortment of stores. You'll find H&M, Nike, the Gap, and Nordstrom Rack along with other tried-and-true American brands. There is dining as well, including options for quick bites and sit-down meals. There is also an "experience" area featuring 3-D virtual reality.
The reason I like this spot, though, is because it is more than a mall. Empire Outlets hosts cultural events, including musical performances and samples from Broadway shows. The open-air design makes it a perfect spot to meet with friends and enjoy a beautiful day near the water. I'd be proud to show any non-Staten Islander this spot to give them a little taste of my hometown!
