New York City has no shortage of churches. However, not all are as well known as Trinity Church, the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, or Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. Grace Church is just as beautiful as the more well-known cathedrals and churches of the city. Designed in a Gothic Revival style, the entire property gives off a Medieval feel, even while surrounded by more modern buildings. The interior of the building is just as ornate, with stained glass windows that rival even its European counterparts. Gothic ribbed vaulting supports the ceiling with carvings decorating the pillars and arches.
My personal favorite part about Grace Church is the Weekend Organ Meditations offered September through May at 4 pm. The peace of the music and beauty of the architecture are able to be appreciated by all, religious and non-religious alike! I love wandering the floor or sitting in the pews just to listen to the organ and look at the detail painstakingly put into every inch of the property.
