Elsewhere I wrote that I would like to have a model train set and a cat (at the same time), but neither is possible because of my travel and space requirements and limitations, and the importance of maintaining my sanity.
I found a resource and I confess, I’ve actually been to Meow Café. I got a pretty good cat ‘hit’ at this place which is well, pretty cute. The cat I coveted played with me for about 45 seconds.
Meow cat café is on the lower east side so after a Dr Seuss-like full catastrophe cat immersion, you can consider visiting sites like the Lower East Side Tenement Museum or the Eldridge Street Synagogue (recommended) for a what, reintegration? Also, Chinatown is close, and worth strolling.
Meow’s special sessions include ‘yoga-with-cats’, ‘learn-to-bake-without-cats’ and ‘Drag Bingo’, with cats.
You can see the current lineup of residents here. if you are totally mad, you can adopt one and take it back to wherever you came from. Imagine — a souvenir New York cat with a Brooklyn accent.
Reservations available only through website. No phone.
Really cute.
In parting, a Pat Welch cat Haiku:
Am I in your way?
You seem to have it backwards:
This pillow’s taken.
