La Péniche Anako, located at the beginning of Canal de la Loire, near the metro Jaurès, is one of my top ten favorite spots in Paris. This barge hosts live music every night downstairs, serves AMAZING Armenian traditional dishes (very cheap), alongside a little bar and a terrace on top of the boat to enjoy your drink.
I was introduced to it for their famous Samba nights (every first Tuesday of the month), where Brazilians sit around a table and play Samba as they would back home. La Péniche Anako is truly a special place, where people come to enjoy music and the wholesome, cozy vibes that make you feel at home (especially the year-long Christmas lights).
I recommend going during a weeknight, when it's a bit less crowded and you get to really appreciate the magic of the place. Every third Thursday of the month, they host the "Canal Jam", where you can join the talented musicians. Their whole music program is very vast, going from jam sessions to Samba to Balkan/Greek Music. Most of the concerts are free; if not, they ask a small minimum contribution.
The Anako barge is made available to the public thanks to the Armenian Red Cross Relief Committee (CSCRA). The latter made the barge available to the association "Les Amis de la Péniche ANAKO", which has taken over the project initiated by Patrick Bernard of "a barge of the peoples and cultures of the world", combined with an Armenian cultural center.
