L’Atelier Geneviève is a “ceramicafé” with locations in Paris’ 11th and 14th arrondissements. If you are wondering what a “ceramicafé” is, it is exactly what it sounds like: a place where you can decorate your own ceramics whilst sitting down for an afternoon cup of coffee. Even better, L’Atelier Geneviève has several workshops to choose from: “ceramic mornings” with breakfast on Saturdays or “ceramic & brunch” on Sundays with sweet and savoury brunch plates, “apero & ceramic” on Thursdays and Fridays with a cheese and charcuterie board, a Harry Potter-themed workshop, workshops for kids and even a special Kintsugi workshop, an initiation to the delicate Japanese art of "gold repair."
Unfortunately for me, I haven’t inherited my mother’s talents for all things manual, so no need to worry if you are just as bad as I am with your hands! Once you arrive, you will receive simple explanations on the basic painting techniques that you can use. If you need any help in the process, all you need to do is shout out. I found my “apero & ceramic” to be an overall very relaxing experience and was pleasantly surprised at the end of the evening to see that I had actually been able to create a beautiful piece of ceramic. It was truly a great way to kick off the weekend!
And if you are looking for a new hobby, L’Atelier Geneviève also offers actual pottery classes where you can learn how to make your own ceramics!
