The Onze bar, officially located in the 11th, despite being heavily Belleville coded, is a quaint street corner bar that you wouldn't give much thought to if you're just walking by. The interior is a very retro, vintage, demodé bar. Used armchairs, random tables, and a huge chandelier are just a few things that compose the decor of the bar. There's a tiny little stage in the back, making it feel like it could be a rock bar, but they mainly host slam sessions or very small concerts. You order at the counter, where the drinks are very cheap during happy hour (until 20h30), and they have a little menu of snacks to share that are really worth trying.
The reason I love this bar is that it's a great spot to people-watch. The local "Freaks and geeks", which is how I like to call the bizarre characters that inhabit this bar. You'll have the old rockster sitting next to the chess champion, and a wild range of other "visitors" that seem to walk in straight from a movie (bordering the sci-fi). To this matter, I have never seen the same barman twice. The place is pretty small, so I recommend going with a couple of friends and enjoying the characters, the music (the playlists are usually pretty good) and the bizarre air that blows inside that bar. Heads up, there are two "Onze bars" in Paris, just look them up, and you can tell which one I'm talking about.
