According to some, this place is where the local San Francisco talent come to get their start. It’s similar to the Improv or The Comedy Store in Los Angeles only with a decidedly Bay Area vibe. I happened onto this bar because my son is a musician and invited me for a Mom/Son evening. Admittedly, I took earplugs when I attended. Aside from that, I enjoyed myself.
The staff was friendly in spite of the fact that I was the oldest patron in the joint. The drinks were good, the sound was good and I didn’t feel the least bit out of place. In fact, when my son introduced me as his Mom, it was like a badge of honor and they thought it was so cool that I was there with my son. What Mom goes out with her son to “enjoy” his kind of music?
Overall, it was an unexpectedly pleasant experience. I left with my hearing intact and was treated to dinner afterward. How bad could that be?
