While the drive out to West Seattle is no small feat, it’s always well worth it to visit independent record store Easy Street Records. Now in its 30th year of business as of 2018, this location survived the Great Vinyl Depression and has been named one of the best US record shops by both Rolling Stone and Time Magazine. As record-hunting returns as a mainstream activity, Easy Street is the perfect place to visit for die-hard and casual music fans alike.

Easy Street’s collection of 33’s and 45’s is extensive, from discounted used treasures to fresh pressings of your favorite rock, pop, R&B and hip-hop artists. The employee curations are also top notch, featuring up & coming Seattle bands and rare editions of classic LPs. I find it impossible to leave without purchasing something new for my collection.

Beyond vinyl, Easy Street also offers an impressive selection of CDs, books and DVDs. A greasy diner inside serves up coffee, breakfast, lunch and wine & beer, the appropriate fuel for a day of scavenging.

Best of all, they often host listening parties or live in-store performances, from both local and nationally recognized artists. Be sure to check their event calendar, for a show unlike any other in the city.
